Attuning to Rhythm & Self
FULL DAY INTENSIVE IN CHICAGO
Listening to the inner needs of the body and mind and discerning how to respond may seem a daunting task, unfamiliar to many of us. However, we have innate intelligence built in to guide us.
As Dr. Vasant Lad so eloquently writes: “There is intelligence in the cell. That intelligence is tejas, but the flow of intelligence is prana, and the medium through which the flow happens is ojas.”
When this intelligence is inhibited, we suffer. When that intelligence is supported, we experience joy, clarity, and love, awakening to the beauty in and around us. The wisdom of ayurveda and tools of yoga serve to maintain prana, tejas, and ojas in harmonious relationship with the rhythm of nature and the evolution of self.
Autumn Living — 9:00-11:30am
With help from ancient ayurvedic wisdom, Zach will discuss how adjusting your daily routine (dinacharya) fits into the larger picture of seasonal routine (ritucharya). With greater awareness and support, you can improve your quality of sleep, steady your nervous system, and balance your digestion. This foundation of balanced health allows the fruit of spiritual practice to ripen.
In this session, we will:
Emphasize the importance of regularity and daily rhythm with the ayurvedic clock
Compare seasonal needs and supportive habits
Examine how to improve quality of sleep and relaxation
Discuss seasonal food choices
Cultivate keener awareness of your relationship with your environment
Softening to Self: Yoga for Deep Nourishment — 2:00-5:00pm
Explore how softness, patience, and ease can lead to a deeper, more meaningful connection to the subtle aspects of yourself, harmonizing prana, tejas, and ojas. Engage with the false notions that you have to do more, try harder, or push through the pain (inhibiting the function of prana, tejas, and ojas) by doing the exact opposite.
In this workshop, practitioners of all levels will be supported to recognize the subtle signs of physical and energetic boundaries, move at a pace that honors the true breath, and experience rejuvenating depths of relaxation.
The afternoon session includes:
A brief discussion on prana, tejas, and ojas
A gentle physical yoga practice
An extended relaxation practice of yoga nidra
Time for reflection and journaling
Please bring a notebook or paper and a pen.
